The Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has organised the Disaster Preparedness and Response Plannimg for Media professionals, held from 23rd to 27th June 2025, at the Berjaya Resort.
Through this workshop we aimed to enhance disaster preparedness skills of media professionals on an executive and operational level. It was strongly emphasised the safety of media while reporting in high pressure environments, to ensure they are better equipped to accurately inform the public and safety during times of disaster.
As part of the final day’s activities, participants undertook a field visit to Le Niol , one of the communities severely impacted by the torrential rains of December 2023. The visit was visit was facilitated by representatives of the Seychelles Land and Transport Agency.
