A half day workshop was held last week at the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs boardroom at Oceangate House where the Ministry’s representatives and that of the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD) discussed a number of matters.

The session had the attendance of the principal secretary of Local Government and Community Affairs; Kevin Perine, the Director General of the DRMD, Robert Ernesta, as well as other leaders and officers from the two entities.

The workshop kicked off by a presentation by the DRMD’s Chief of Operations about DRDM’s functions and programmes, followed various head of units explaining the functions and programmes of their respective portfolios. A number of different items were discussed that prompted various questions and clarifications from both sides.

As a result of the workshop, there will be further meetings that will expand the collaboration of the two entities on the different programmes by the Local Government authorities and the DRMD.
