The Department of Risk and Disaster Management (DRDM), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), is hosting a national Disaster Tracking System (DTS) training from Tuesday 20th January 2026 to Thursday 22nd January 2026, at Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort.
This DTS training equipped local stakeholders with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilise the DTS Model, Delta Resilience, marking a critical step forward in strengthening Seychelles’ ability to understand, track, and respond to disasters. The training also benefits from the participation of international experts from the disaster risk management agencies in Madagascar and Mauritius.
Through this workshop, national and international experts are brought together to build practical skills in disaster loss and damage data collection, analysis, and reporting. Participants learn how to apply globally recognised tools and methodologies, assess the maturity of national data systems, and align disaster data with international frameworks such as the Sendai Framework, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement.
From this training participants will gain
:
• A deeper understanding of global standards for disaster losses and damages
• Hands-on experience with the DTS and open-source tools
• Skills to identify gaps and strengthen national data ecosystems
• A clear, country-specific roadmap and work plan for institutionalising the DTS
