Minister of Internal Affairs, Charles E. Fonseka, visited the St. Louis Stabilisation Project site to observe the significant progress being made as the rock bed drilling phase enters its final stage and preparations begin for the installation of high-durability stabilisation nets. The visit was conducted last week, Friday 23rd May 2025.
During the visit, Minister Fonseka met with local experts and expressed his satisfaction with the work underway. He commended the team for their dedication and noted that the initiative represents an innovative and long-lasting solution to mitigate landslide and rockfall risks in Seychelles.
This advanced stabilisation technique offers a lifespan of over 50 years and is engineered to withstand the challenges of Seychelles’ climate marking a substantial improvement over traditional netting systems, which typically last less than 20 years.
As the project continues to advance, the Division and its stakeholders reassure the public that this enhanced stabilisation effort marks a critical step towards safeguarding communities and building a more resilient future for Seychelles.
